The new model is not only more powerful than the outgoing model but is also more efficient.
The 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will be officially launched on 20th August 2018 but most of the things about the car are already known. Now, mileage figures of the new 1.5-litre petrol engine have come to light and they are better than the outgoing model.
The new 1.5-litre petrol engine in the 2018 Maruti Ciaz produces 103.5 HP at 6000 RPM and 138 Nm of peak torque at 4400 RPM which is 12 HP and 8.4 Nm more than the outgoing model. The car also gets the Smart Hybrid Vehicle System (SHVS) which earlier came only with the diesel engine. This allows the car to automatically shut off when standing at a red light and brings it back up at a press of the clutch.
The 2018 Maruti Ciaz with its new engine and the SHVS system gives a mileage of 21.56 km/l when given the 5-speed manual transmission and 20.28 km/l when paired with the 4-speed automatic transmission. Both the numbers are ARAI claimed. These numbers are 0.83 km/l and 1.16 km/l more for the manual and automatic transmissions respectively on the outgoing model. This continues to make the 2018 Ciaz the most efficient car in its segment.
The 1.3-litre diesel engine will be offered as it is and it produces 89 HP and 200 Nm of peak torque. It too will come with the SHVS system and return a claimed mileage of 28.09 km/l.
Although the Maruti NEXA showrooms had unofficially started taking bookings for the 2018 Maruti Ciaz, the official bookings have now begun. You can book yours for Rs. 11,000/-. The 2018 Maruti Ciaz gets a bolder design with an updated front with LED Projector headlamps, daytime running lights, new LED combination lamp at the rear and new alloy wheels. The interiors too get an upgrade with new upholstery, new infotainment system and a better safety package for the passengers.
