2018 Kawasaki Versys 650 has been launched in India at a price of Rs. 6.5 lakhs.
India Kawasaki Motors introduced the Versys 650 in late 2015 as a scaled-down version of the Versys 1000 and the middle-weight adventure-sport has gained immense popularity in the country. The year 2017 saw the Versys 650 receive a minor update to comply with BS4 emission norms along with small feature additions. This time, Kawasaki has updated the Versys 650 for 2018 with revised graphics and minor tweaks. The 2018 Kawasaki Versys 650 has been priced at Rs. 6.5 lakhs (ex-showroom, India).
First up, the 2018 Versys 650 gets new graphics and the lime green & black paint scheme remains the same. Long travel suspension and 17-inch alloy wheels add to the rough-road friendliness of the Versys while the split headlamp design makes it a head turner on our roads. In addition to the gear position indicator which was added this March, the Versys gets an adjustable front windscreen which comes with 2 inches of travel.
Powering the 2018 Kawasaki Versys 650 is the same 650cc parallel-twin motor which develops 69 PS of power and 64 Nm of torque. This liquid-cooled engine comes paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Sitting on a diamond frame, the Versys 650 features a 120-section tyre at the front and 180-section at the rear. Suspension duties are handled by long travel suspension hardware consisting of 41 mm USD forks at the front and offset monoshock at the rear.
Dual disc (300 mm) setup at the front and a single rear disc (250 mm) provide much-needed braking force to the motorcycle. Dual-channel ABS unit allows for safer and efficient braking action. Earlier this year, Kawasaki had inaugurated a new assembly plant in Chakan, Pune and the Versys 650 is being produced there along with the Z250, Ninja 300, Z650, Ninja 650 and Ninja 1000 (SKD). The 2018 version of the Versys 650 will be made available through 22 Kawasaki dealerships spread across the country. The motorcycle takes the fight to the Benelli TNT 600 GT.
