The Kawasaki Ninja 300 is the latest motorcycle from a Japanese manufacturer to be locally produced in India.
Kawasaki is increasingly focusing on localising the production of its bikes to bring the prices down. The latest bike to be given this localisation treatment is the Kawasaki Ninja 300.
Through localisation, Kawasaki not just brings down the production cost of its bikes but also passes on the benefits to its customers. This means that the Kawasaki Ninja 300 can now be bought for Rs. 2.98 lakhs (ex-showroom). The bike was earlier priced at Rs. 3.64 lakhs (ex-showroom).
The 2018 Kawasaki Ninja 300 comes in two colour options – the Lime Green Ebony and the Candy Plasma Blue. The bike also gets new body graphics. The design of the Kawasaki Ninja 300 is borrowed from its litre-class brother, the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R while the design for the wheels has been taken from the Ninja ZX-14R. The feature list includes a dual-channel ABS, petal discs at the front and rear, a new die-cast aluminium cylinder which is lighter by 600 grams and an assist and slipper clutch.
Mechanically, the bike remains unchanged and will be powered by a 296cc, liquid-cooled, 8-valve, parallel twin engine producing 38.5 HP at 11,000 RPM and 27 Nm of torque at 10,000 RPM. The price cut has given the Kawasaki Ninja 300, the tag of being the cheapest 2-cylinder motorcycle in India.
Competing with the Kawasaki Ninja 300 is the Yamaha YZF R3 which comes at a price of Rs. 3.48 lakhs (ex-showroom). Kawasaki has been doing a commendable job with the localisation and pricing of its bikes and we hope the trend is followed by other manufacturers too.
