The 2018 Honda Gold Wing has been showcased at the ongoing Auto Expo, available in Gold Wing and Gold Wing Tour variants.
The 2018 Honda Gold Wing broke cover at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show last year and was recently launched in the Indian market. The cruiser bike has now been showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo and is grabbing a lot of attention! The standard Gold Wing is priced at Rs. 26.85 lakhs while the Gold Wing Tour (the one pictured here) is priced at Rs. 28.49 lakhs (both prices ex-showroom, Delhi).
Visually, though the 2018 Gold Wing gets sleeker and sharper design cues, the bike does look massive. Honda claims the fairing design is more aerodynamic and the aerodynamic efficiency has improved by 11.8 percent. The headlamps are full LED units, the windscreen is electrically adjustable and the 7-inch full-colour TFT instrument console with analogue dials get Apple CarPlay compatibility. There is also a premium audio system to keep the rider entertained on the move. Other features include four riding modes – Tour, Sport, Economy and Rain, ride-by-wire, Cruise Control, Hill Start Assist and heated grips. Heated seats and HSTC (Honda Selectable Torque Control) are available only on the Gold Wing Tour.
The 2018 Gold Wing comes powered by a completely reworked 1833cc, horizontally-opposed, 6-cylinder engine which produces 125 HP of power at 5500 RPM and max torque of 170 Nm at 4500 RPM. The powertrain is mated to a 7-speed Dual-Clutch Transmission which apart from the reverse function offers the ‘Walking’ mode (making this mammoth manoeuvrable while parking and reversing). Honda has worked on the engine and as a result, the 2018 Gold Wing’s motor is lighter by 6 kgs than its predecessor’s.
Suspension duties are handled by a double wishbone and Pro-Link Showa monoshock for the front and rear suspension respectively. Dual 320 mm discs at the front and a single 316 mm disc at the rear take care of braking duties. The flagship Honda bike is available exclusively at Honda’s Wing World sales outlets at Delhi and Mumbai.
