2018 Honda Amaze unveiled at the ongoing Auto Expo, launch scheduled in the coming weeks.
The 2018 Honda Amaze breaks cover at the ongoing Auto Expo and is scheduled for an India launch in the coming few months. Launched back in 2013, the Amaze has been a decent seller for Honda and an update to the compact sedan was long due. Rivaling a host of other compact sedans like Maruti Dzire, Hyundai Xcent, Volkswagen Ameo, Ford Aspire and Tata Tigor, the new Amaze still measures under 4-metres in length and promises to be more premium and better equipped than before.
Designwise, the Amaze has vastly changed and will remind you of the other bigger Honda cars. The front fascia is more City all thanks to the thick chrome grille and the City-like styled headlights. The sides aren’t as attractive as the front, lots of cuts and creases make the side profile very busy. That said, it isn’t bad-looking either. If the front end is more like a City, then the rear is more like a Civic, courtesy the C-shaped tail-lights.
Coming to the interior, there is a new 3-spoke steering wheel, new black and beige dashboard with a touchscreen infotainment system and space too has improved over its predecessor. Overall, the cabin looks much more premium and a better place to be in as compared to the previous model. The sedan carries over the same 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol and 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engines from the previous model. The 1.2 petrol motor makes 88 PS of power and 109 Nm of torque while the 1.5 diesel outputs 100 PS of power and 200 Nm of torque. Both the powertrains get a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard, however, there is also an optional CVT gearbox on offer for the petrol mill.
