2018 Honda Amaze Features & Specs Revealed

2018 Honda Amaze features and specifications have been officially revealed by the company; will be offered in 4 trim levels.

Kerb weight of the 2018 Honda Amaze varies from 905 to 1039 kgs depending on the variant

The second-gen Honda Amaze was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo held in Greater Noida a couple of months back. Planning to launch the car next month, the Japanese manufacturer has now revealed 2018 Honda Amaze features as well as specifications to give prospective customers some insight on what to expect from this car. First up, the Amaze will be available in 4 variants – E, S, V and VX. The outgoing model was also available in 4 variants but the SX trim has been replaced with V in this iteration. Variant-wise spread of features is still not known but the Amaze will come pretty loaded for its price. Pre-bookings for the car had started earlier this month.

Honda will offer the Amaze with 2 engine options and 2 transmission options that translates to a total of 4 powertrain combinations at launch. The compact sedan can be had with a 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol or a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine, both of which will offer an option of either a 5-speed manual shifter or a CVT gearbox. The petrol motor develops 90 PS of power and 110 Nm of torque whereas the fuel-burner unit is good for 100 PS of power and 200 Nm of torque. The combination of CVT and a diesel engine is a first-in-the-segment which raises apprehensions about its effectiveness as power and torque figures are down by 20 PS and 40 Nm respectively as compared to the manual diesel variant.

The catch here is that CVT will make it to the mid-variants (S and V) only. So, buyers planning to go for automatic variants will have to miss out on certain features exclusive to the top-end VX trim. Honda claims fuel efficiency figures of 19.5 km/l, 19 km/l, 27.8 km/l and 23.8 km/l for the petrol manual, petrol automatic, diesel manual and diesel automatic trims respectively. Coming to features, the second-gen Amaze will offer LED DRLs, C-shaped tail lamps, 15-inch alloy wheels, shark-fin antenna, engine start-stop button, Digipad 2.0 touchscreen infotainment unit with MirrorLink, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cruise control and more.

As compared to the outgoing generation, the 2018 Amaze is longer, wider and shorter which gives it more presence as well as a better stance. The wheelbase has been increased to 2470 mm that translates into a lot more cabin space. Expected to be priced at a small premium over the current model, which costs from Rs. 5.72 lakhs to Rs. 8.61 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai), the new Amaze goes against the likes of similarly priced rivals including Maruti Dzire, Ford Aspire and Hyundai Xcent.
