The 2018 Ford Mustang facelift has been spotted in India, will continue to be sold as CBU.
Ford unveiled the 2018 Mustang facelift last year and the same has now been spotted in India hinting that the American automaker could be gearing up to launch the coupe here. The company will continue to sell the Mustang via the CBU (Completely Built Unit) route.
As it is with facelifts, changes are more concentrated on the front fascia of the car. The iconic pony gets slimmer LED headlights, lowered bonnet and a revised bumper (with integrated turn indicators) and front grille. The side and rear profile remain similar to the current model save for the newly designed alloy wheels. While the interiors too are similar to the current model, Ford will offer a customisable 12-inch digital instrument cluster instead of the analogue gauges.
The Ford Mustang facelift for the international markets is available with a 2.3-litre EcoBoost petrol motor producing 306 HP of power and 475 Nm of torque and a 5.0-litre V8 which belts out 454 HP of power and 569 Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual with a twin-disc clutch and dual-mass flywheel or a new 10-speed automatic gearbox from the F-150 Raptor. India is likely to get the 5.0-litre V8 with the 10-speed automatic gearbox. Spy shots also confirm the same.
The Mustang facelift gets new shock absorbers and also uses cross-axis joint in the rear suspension with a new stabilizer bar. Safety features like automatic emergency braking, distance alert, lane departure warning, pedestrian detection and pre-collision warning will now be offered as optional. While active exhaust will also be offered as optional, MagneRide magnetorheological dampers will be part of the optional Performance package.
