The 2018 Ford EcoSport gets an updated equipment list, prices also hiked across variants.
Ford has increased the prices of its compact SUV, the EcoSport by Rs. 5000-10,000 depending on the variant. The base Ambiente (MT) trim now costs Rs. 7.82 lakhs and Rs. 8.41 lakhs (both prices, ex-showroom, Delhi) for the petrol and diesel versions respectively. Don’t worry, the American automaker has not hiked the prices for no reason, it is also offering new features on all the variants of the EcoSport.
Rear parking sensors, speed sensing auto door lock and passenger seat belt reminder are standard across all variants now. The Trend variant, in addition to the above, also gets a rear view camera. The infotainment system’s touchscreen display has also grown in size. Previously, the company used to offer a 6.5 or 8-inch display (depending on the variant) but now there is a larger 9.0-inch touchscreen display with SYNC and embedded Navigation on offer. The new infotainment system is standard from the Trend variant onwards.
The ambient lighting and Ford My Key have been omitted from the Titanium and are now offered only on the range-topping Titanium+ grade. Mechanically, the SUV remains the same. It continues to draw power from the 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder petrol and 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engines. The Dragon series petrol motor makes 123 PS of power and 150 Nm of torque while the 1.5 oil-burner churns out 100 PS of power and 205 Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard on both the petrol and diesel powertrains while there is also an optional 6-speed automatic gearbox for the petrol-powered EcoSport.
