The 2018 BMW X3 has been launched in India with prices starting from Rs. 49.99 lakhs (ex-showroom, India). The third-generation X3 gets fully revamped exteriors and interiors but carries forward the same set of powertrains as the previous model. Currently, the Bavarian automaker is offering the X3 only with a diesel engine and two trim options – Expedition and Luxury Line.
On the exterior front, the SUV gets a larger kidney grille, full LED headlights, fog lights and bigger air intakes for the front bumper. Standard wheel size has been increased to 18-inches in the Expedition trim while the top-spec Luxury Line variant gets bigger 19-inch double-spoke style alloy wheels. While the full LED 3D tail lamps add some oomph to the rear profile, the dual exhaust ports give the vehicle a purposeful stance.
On the inside too, the 2018 BMW X3 is all-new. The car gets a 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel, new 12.3-inch instrument cluster with an individual character for EcoPro, Comfort and Sport driving modes, new dashboard layout and a 10.2-inch iDrive touchscreen infotainment system (the screen is not inbuilt but sits on the top of the dashboard) with Navigation in the Luxuryl= Line trim only. The Expedition grade gets a smaller 6.5-inch iDrive infotainment system. The new X3 also boasts of more space inside the cabin than its predecessor.
Some of the features worth mentioning are Apple CarPlay and wireless charging (only in the Luxury Line), ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, 3-zone automatic climate control, rear-view camera, Harman Kardon 16-speaker Surround Sound system, powered tailgate, acoustic glass, automatic wipers and headlights. The vehicle, for now, is available only with a 2.0-litre diesel engine only. The inline, 4-cylinder, 2.0-litre oil-burner makes 190 HP of power at 4000 RPM and 400 Nm of torque at 1750-2500 RPM. The powertrain comes mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
