The 2018 BMW M3 and M4 have been launched in India, priced from Rs. 1.30 crores.
Seems BMW’s performance division is on a car launching spree. They launched the M5 in India a few days ago and have now launched the M3 sedan and M4 coupe as well. The BMW M3 sedan is priced at Rs. 1.30 crores while if you’re someone interested in the BMW M4 coupe, it will set you back by Rs. 1.33 crores, both prices (ex-showroom, pan-India).
The BMW M3 is based on the 3-Series sedan and looks similar to the latter in all respects. However, BMW cars wearing an M badge doesn’t just mean they get a different powertrain under the hood, right? So, there are visual differentiators between the two. The M3 gets a sportier bumper with large air-intakes, black-finish on the kidney grille with M3 badging.
The BMW M4 is also based on the 3-Series but takes the form of a coupe and gets two doors removed. The result is a car that’s worth drooling on. Both the vehicles come with the Competition Package that adds high gloss black finish to the side window trim, window recess finishers, ORVMs, grille and the side gills.
The exhaust system includes M sports exhaust system with black chrome tailpipes. The Competition Package features 19-inch M light alloy wheels with double spoke styling in black as standard, however, you could also opt for the 20-inch light alloy wheels with Star-spoke styling.
On the inside, the dashboard layout remains identical to the 3-Series sedan but gets subtle changes. For instance, there is an M leather steering wheel with paddle shifters, M door sills, M gear lever, M sport seats and finally, seat belts with woven-in BMW M stripes. There is an 8.8-inch iDrive touchscreen infotainment system with 3D maps, Navigation, Bluetooth and USB connectivity. Apple CarPlay is optional and so is Park Distance Control (PDC).
Powering both the M3 and M4 is a 3.0-litre TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder petrol motor that churns out an impressive 450 HP of power at 7000 RPM and 550 Nm of peak torque at 2350-5500 RPM. A 7-speed M dual-clutch transmission with Drivelogic has been specially designed for this high-revving engine. 0-100 km/hr comes up in just 4 seconds while top speed is rated at 250 km/hr. However, opt for the M Driver’s package and top speed is further enhanced to 280 km/hr.
Both the cars get Adaptive M Suspension featuring new springs, dampers and anti-roll bars along with reconfigured driving modes – Comfort, Sport and Sport+. An Active M Differential is standard fitment on the rear axle. The German automaker is offering safety features like ABS, multiple airbags and DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) including M Dynamic mode.
Both the performance cars are brought to India via the CBU route (Completely Built Unit) and are available across all BMW sales outlets starting today.
