The second generation Volvo XC60 is India bound and has been showcased in Geneva.
Volvo has showcased the new generation XC60 at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show and this luxury SUV is going to be launched in India too. The new XC60 is based on the SPA platform which will be the basis for all the 60 and 90 models coming from Volvo, including the new S60 that is coming next year.
The new Volvo XC60 measures 4690 mm in length, 1902 mm in width and 1658 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2865 mm. The styling has been given a complete makeover and it now looks extremely striking and resembles the XC90 to quite an extent. It also gets much more cabin space than the outgoing model.
On the mechanical front, it is powered by the 2.0-litre diesel engine that is offered in 187 HP D4 and 232 HP D5 trims. It also gets a 2.0-litre D5 petrol engine producing 251 HP and also the T8 Hybrid trim which pumps out 401 HP. The T8 Hybrid trim makes the XC60 go from 0-100 km/hr in just 5.3 seconds.
The engines will be offered with an 8-speed automatic transmission and 4WD will also come as standard. Some markets will get a FWD trim with manual transmission but the MT is unlikely to be offered in India. As expected from a Volvo, it comes loaded with quite a lot of safety tech too.
The 2017 Volvo XC60 will be launched in India in the later part of 2017 and it will compete with other luxury SUVs like the Mercedes GLE, Jaguar F-Pace, Land Rover Discovery Sport, Audi Q5 and BMW X3.
