The next generation Toyota Fortuner receives a 5-star rating crash tests done by the Latin NCAP. Toyota will launch the SUV in India in 2017.
Japanese automaker Toyota is one of the leading automotive firms across the world. Toyota has always improved its technology to meet the safety standards that have been set globally. The Toyota Fortuner is an SUV that shares its underpinnings with the Hilux pick-up truck. The vehicle recently received a 5-star rating for safety from Latin NCAP, which is a car crashing testing agency.
The Hilux pick-up truck too had received a 5-star safety rating in Latin NCAP last year for it met all the requirements and survived the car crash test perfectly. The India-bound Fortuner too has received the same. The vehicle scored a 5-star rating for both child and adult occupant protection. The Fortuner comes with dual front and driver knee airbags and ABS with EBD as standard.
The India-bound Toyota Fortuner will be powered by all-new 2.4-litre and 2.8-litre GD diesel engines. The new engines will have Superior Thermal Efficient Combustion and will sport Variable Geometric Turbocharger technology. The 2.4-litre engine churns out 162 HP of power and 400 Nm of torque while the 2.8-litre engine produces 179 HP of power and 450 Nm of torque. The engines will be mated to 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions.
The next generation Toyota Fortuner will be launched in India in 2017. The SUV is bound to increase Toyota’s sales in India as the previous generation was a hit. The 5-star safety rating makes it a sweet deal for customers since safety awareness is finally rising amongst consumers in the country.
