2017 Suzuki GSX150R Spied, To Rival Yamaha R15

The new and much awaited 2017 Suzuki GSX150R has been spied ahead of its launch in Indonesia which will compete with the Yamaha R15 head on.

The front fairing of the GSX150R looks quite sharp & sporty

Suzuki has been testing the new GSX150R recently to rival the Yamaha R15 with its sporty characteristics. New images have surfaced that reveal more updates of the 150cc bike. The front fairing around the headlamps looks very sharp having a steeply raked design. The headlight itself looks quite sleek and edgy lending an aggressive stance from the front.

Some of the new updates include LED DRLs, new digital instrument cluster, split design handle bars, redesigned fuel tank, split seats, new LED tail lights and reworked exhaust system. The aforementioned changes are in comparison with the Suzuki Gixxer SF sold in India as the new GSX150R is based on the same motorcycle but is more performance oriented.

The Suzuki GSX150R is expected to come with slight bump in power and torque with its 154.9cc air cooled fuel injected engine. Currently this engine produces 14.8 PS at 8000 RPM and 14 Nm at 6000 RPM, mated to a 5-speed gearbox. In order to compete head on with the new Yamaha R15, the Suzuki GSX150R will need improved performance figures to woo buyers.

The GSX150R will be equipped with front and rear disc brakes. It is expected to launch in the Indonesian market within a few days of time but India launch is uncertain at this point of time. The 2017 Suzuki GSX150R is expected to be launched with an aggressive price tag. The sporty looks of the GSX150R might grab better attention compared to the Yamaha R15.
