The 2017 SsangYong Rexton has been revealed and it will be launched in India later in 2017.
The 2017 SsangYong Rexton has been revealed ahead of its debut at the Seoul Motor Show. Sketches of the vehicle had been revealed last week and the SUV is derived from the LIV-2 concept that was showcased last year. The new SsangYong Rexton is going to be launched in India under the Mahindra brand name and will most likely be called the XUV700.
The new SsangYong Rexton appears to be a good looking and proportionate vehicle. Compared to the LIV-2 concept, the Rexton gets some changes to the grille, bumpers, lights, etc. but the overall stance remains the same. The SUV also gets a revised SsangYong logo.
The interiors have a neat layout and get a dual tone colour theme. There are some intricate details too. The equipment list is pretty strong and the Rexton gets a lot of features. The SUV also gets a large 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system that will also support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
On the mechanical front, the Rexton is likely to get a 2.2-litre diesel engine with 181 horses and 420 Nm and a 2.0-litre petrol engine with 225 horses. The diesel engine will get a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed automatic transmission. The petrol engine will be launched later on.
The new Rexton will be launched in India later this year. It will compete with the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and Chevrolet TrailBlazer. Expect Mahindra to price the car aggressively in a way that it will undercut the Fortuner and Endeavour by a few lakhs.
