After a prolonged wait, Skoda India has finally disclosed the specifications of its first 7-seater SUV Kodiaq.
Apart from the Rapid Monte Carlo edition and Octavia RS, the Kodiaq SUV is among the important launches planned for 2017 by the Czech carmaker in India. Reportedly, the Skoda Kodiaq is the longest car to be based on the MQB platform. Amidst great hype surrounding its launch in the country, Skoda has revealed details and specifications of the SUV. Skoda dealers are already accepting bookings unofficially.
Thanks to the neat shoulder line and square wheel arches, the Skoda Kodiaq looks sophisticated and modern from the outside. At the rear, Skoda’s C-shape crystalline style tail-lamps go well with the clean and understated styling. On a positive note, the design carries a resemblance to the new Audi Q7.
Measuring 4697 mm x 2087 mm x 1676 mm (length x width x height) in external dimensions, the Skoda Kodiaq has a kerb weight of 1738-1875 kg and a ground clearance of 194 mm. Turning radius of the Kodiaq is 5.8 m, while its fuel tank has a capacity of 60-litres. The SUV will come equipped with adaptive LED headlights, brake energy recovery and automatic stop-start system among other standard equipment. With all the rows up, the Kodiaq offers a boot space of 270-litres which can be increased to 670-litres with the third row folded.
The Skoda Kodiaq comes with a choice of three TSI and two TDI engine options, with engine capacities ranging from 1.4-litre to 2.0-litre. The power output from the Euro-6 compliant turbo-charged engines ranges from 125 HP to 190 HP. While Skoda’s Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) system offers selectable drive modes based on the terrain, 4×4 functionality is also on offer with a dedicated snow mode.
A leather wrapped steering wheel, Alcantara upholstery and LED interior lighting adorn the ergonomic cabin of the Kodiaq. LED boot lamp and two umbrellas under the driver and co-driver seats are also in place. With the launch confirmed for November this year, the Kodiaq is expected to be priced in the range of Rs. 30-35 lakhs and will go against the likes of the Ford Endeavour and the segment-leader Toyota Fortuner. Skoda also introduced the iConsultant app which contains a used-car program and a competition comparison section as well.
