2017 Maruti Swift DZire Launch Before Hatchback

2017 Maruti Swift DZire spied undergoing testing, reveals a cleaner rear design. The new DZire will be launched before the next gen Swift.

The rear appears to have gotten some comprehensive update

The Maruti Swift DZire has held the top spot in the compact sedan segment since time immortal and has managed to thwart off stiff competition from Honda, Tata, Hyundai and Volkswagen. Now if that wasn’t enough to confirm Maruti Suzuki’s domination in the segment, the automaker now wants to consolidate its presence with the 2017 Swift DZire. MotorBeam reader Anirudh Verma spotted the upcoming DZire undergoing testing.

As is the case with most compact sedans, the DZire shares its design with its hatchback sister Swift upto the C-pillar. Recent new spy pics unveil the rear design of the 2017 Swift DZire. It reveals a somewhat sportier rear profile which might come equipped with an integrated rear spoiler. The rear profile of DZire wasn’t the most appealing part of the car since its launch. Now with the third generation DZire, Maruti would be aiming to make the car look more appealing.

The interior layout won’t be shared between the Swift siblings, with the DZire employing lighter colour shades to amplify the sense of space. There will be revisions to the equipment of the new DZire, which will also include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto among a host of other features like the climate control, Bluetooth etc. which will be carried over from the current version.

Engine options remain the same for both the Swift siblings, employing 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel engines. It isn’t confirmed whether the car will get Maruti’s new 1.5-litre diesel engine which is still under development. Transmission options will include 5-speed manual and AMT options. Maruti plans to launch the DZire by June 2017, with the Swift following in the festive season of 2017.
