The India made KTM RC 390 and RC 200 have got a new colour scheme for 2017. The next generation RC models are still a year away.
The KTM RC series has got a new paint scheme for both the 200 and 390 models (even for the RC 125). The company showcased the updated colour scheme at the Intermot motorcycle show. The new paint scheme is to keep things fresh till the second generation Race Sport models arrive late next year. These new colour schemes are likely to be launched in India as currently the RC 200 and RC 390 are offered in one paint scheme each.
Other than the colour scheme, there is no change to these two KTM RC models which are also sold in India. While KTM makes the 125, 200, 250 and 390 Duke and RC models in India, it doesn’t sell the 125 and 200 bikes locally. The Austrian company also doesn’t offer ABS on the Duke and RC 200 in the sub-continent but will soon add this safety feature as mandated by the upcoming safety regulations.
The bike displayed at Intermot complies with Euro 4 emission norms and thus gets a side exhaust unlike the underbelly on the Indian RC 390. The motorcycle also gets Ride-By-Wire which isn’t offered by KTM in India. The company is likely to drop the next generation 200 models in lieu of the 250 which was developed at a later stage for the Indonesian market.
KTM will unveil the next generation Duke 390 at the upcoming EICMA motorcycle show next month. The next generation RC 200 and RC 390 will be revealed only next year (there is a one year gap between the Duke and RC model launch). With a good idea about what’s coming on the second generation Duke 390, we can expect the same to be carried over to the 2018 KTM RC 390. Thus the new full faired motorcycle will get LED headlamps, riding modes, full colour console, Smartphone integration, dual-function forks and crucially improved refinement.
