KTM has updated the colours on the 2017 RC motorcycles for India while the RC 390 also gets mechanical changes.
KTM just updated its small capacity Dukes a couple of months back, bringing out the second generation of the Duke 125, 200, 250 and 390 models. Out of these four street-fighter KTM bikes which are made in India for the world, the 2017 version of the Duke 200 and Duke 390 will be launched next month. Meanwhile the RC motorcycles aren’t being ignored as they too get updates for the new year.
A leaked brochure points to the KTM RC 200 getting a new colour scheme which we find a bit tacky compared to the black paint job on last year’s bike. There are no mechanical changes to the RC 200. However, KTM has given a slew of updates to the 2017 RC 390. For starters, it too gets a new colour scheme, which we aren’t too fond off. But there are mechanical changes too.
The 2017 KTM RC 390 gets an increase in front disc size by 20 mm to 320 mm. It gets a 1 Nm increase in torque to 36 Nm but before you get too excited, the weight of the Race Sport 390 has gone up by 4.5 kgs to 170 kgs, due to the side mounted two stage exhaust as the bike now complies with BS-IV emission norms. The motorcycle also gets a slipper clutch and ride-by-wire technology. Both bikes also get 12 mm of extra padding on the seat with the pillion seat still being unusable.
While prices of the updated KTM RC bikes hasn’t been announced yet, we expect a slight hike. At this year’s EICMA motor show in November, KTM will unveil the second generation RC 125, RC 200, RC 250 and RC 390 motorcycles which will be launched in India next year.
