The 2017 KTM Duke 390 has been launched in India, priced at Rs. 2.25 lakhs.
The wait hasn’t been long because the 2017 KTM Duke 390 was officially unveiled only in November and within a couple of months, it has been launched in India. The most significant of the three models to be launched today, both in terms of positioning and changes, the second generation Duke 390 gets significant changes which are skin deep.
On the styling front, the 2017 KTM Duke 390 gets a new design which makes it look sharper than ever. The new orange and white colour scheme is oh-so-delicious while the split LED headlight is sleek. The big change is to the instrument cluster which gets a TFT display, having smartphone integration and MY RIDE multimedia interface with Bluetooth connectivity. The bike is offered in only Orange colour.
At the heart of the Duke 390 remains the same 373.3cc engine which produces 44 horses but an increase in torque by 2 Nm to 37 Nm. The additional output doesn’t mean any improvements in acceleration because the new bike weighs 163 kgs. Mated to the powerplant is a 6-speed gearbox with slipper clutch. The motorcycle also gets ride-by-wire and is BS-IV emission compliant, thus it gets a side mounted exhaust.
KTM has given the Duke 390 a bigger fuel tank, which at 13.4-litres will give it a much better tank range. The seat height has been bumped up to 830 mm (increase of 20 mm). The front suspension comprises a 43 mm upside-down fork but it is a split function unit now. The disc has been increased from 300 mm to 320 mm. It continues to get dual-channel ABS which can also be disengaged. The 2017 KTM Duke 390 is priced at Rs. 2.25 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) and has no direct competition at all.
