The 2017 KTM Duke 390 India launch will happen in the second half of January while deliveries will commence after three months.
You read it first on MotorBeam. The 2017 KTM Duke 390 was unveiled just last week and we can confirm that the launch of the second generation model will happen in India as soon as January 2017. Sources inform us that deliveries of the all new Duke 390 will commence from April 2017. When the first generation model was launched in 2013, a delay in delivery of 2-3 months was observed that time as well.
India serves as the global production hub for the Duke and RC 125, 200, 250 and 390 models. With the second generation model announced globally, it makes no sense for Bajaj Auto to produce the old Duke 390 and thus the model change in India is happening so quickly. By keeping a few months gap between launch and deliveries, KTM will be able to adjust production without the dealer having to keep inventory. The downside is of course the waiting period.
The 2017 KTM Duke 390 gets a slew of changes although the engine has been retained with the same 44 PS of power as earlier but torque has increased to 37 Nm. The increase in torque and more torque being available earlier has improved the riding experience significantly. KTM has worked on the motor to improve refinement while the bigger fuel tank is a much welcome change as the tank range was just 180 kms on the old model.
Ride-by-Wire will make it to India and thus the new KTM Duke 390 will cost close to Rs. 20,000/- more than the outgoing model. The 2017 KTM Duke 390 will be priced at around Rs. 2.45 lakhs (on-road, Mumbai) putting it at par with the RC 390 in price. The next generation KTM RC 390 will be unveiled at EICMA 2017 and will go further upmarket.
