The 2017 KTM Duke 250 has been launched in India, priced at Rs. 1.73 lakhs.
No one saw this coming as KTM has time and again said that it has no plans to launch the 250cc models (Duke or RC) in India. But out of nowhere, the 2017 KTM Duke 250 was spotted and now it has been launched in India, priced at Rs. 1.73 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). Positioned between the Duke 200 and Duke 390, the Duke 250 offers the best of both worlds as it has good enough grunt for both the city and highway.
The 2017 KTM Duke 250 is powered by a 248.8cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine which is based on the 373.3cc motor that powers the KTM 390 twins. This motor generates 31 HP of power at 9000 RPM and 24 Nm of torque at 7250 RPM, putting it bang against the likes of the Honda CBR250R and Mahindra Mojo.
On the styling front, the Duke 250 looks different from the Duke 200 (which is being sold in India) and the 2017 Duke 390 which has been launched alongside. The bike features black rims but an orange coloured frame while a side mounted exhaust ensures its BS-IV compliant. Although a split headlight is missing, it features LED inserts. The ignition switch has been brought closer to the rider, near the tank which is now bigger at 13.4-litres.
The KTM Duke 250 looks sharp but uses the old instrument cluster which was seen on the first generation KTM Duke models. The bike also misses out on ABS. It is offered in 2 colours – Orange and White. The KTM Duke 250 has been priced at Rs. 1.73 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
