The 2017 Jeep Compass has been unveiled in India and it will be manufactured in Ranjangaon.
Jeep India has unveiled the RHD Compass for the first time. The upcoming SUV will mark Jeep’s entry into local manufacturing and the RHD version of the SUV will exclusively be manufactured by Jeep India. Production of the Jeep Compass will take place at FCA’s facility in Ranjangaon, Pune.
The Jeep Compass will be launched in the third quarter of this year and the American carmaker has invested 280 million dollars for the production facility of Compass in India.
In terms of styling, the Compass has typical SUV proportions with an upright stance, huge wheel arches and some modern bits like the projector headlights and LED tail lights. The Compass is 4398 mm long, 1819 mm wide and 1667 mm tall. It has a ground clearance of 178 mm and wheelbase of 2636 mm.
The Compass gets Jeep Active Drive 4×4 system with brake lock differential that comes with Selec-terrain traction management system including – Auto, Snow, Sand, Mud modes. The Compass gets approach and departure angles of 17 and 32 respectively.
Some of the key highlights include Electronic Stability Control, Hill Start Assist, 6 airbags, ABS, EBD, all disc brakes, 60:40 rear split seats, electric park brake, perforated leather seats, contrast stitching on steering wheel, 3 interior colour options including all-black interior, black with brown and black with grey.
Powering the Jeep Compass are both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol version will get a 1.4 MultiAir engine that produces 160 BHP and 250 Nm. The 2.0-litre diesel engine produces 170 BHP and 350 Nm. Transmission options include 6-speed manual and 7-speed dual clutch.
