The 2017 Hyundai Tucson has been launched in India, priced from Rs. 18.99 lakhs.
Hyundai had launched the first generation Tucson in India long back and the vehicle wasn’t much of a hit. The company didn’t launch the second generation of the SUV but now the Korean automaker has launched the third generation Tucson in India and the SUV comes at a starting price of Rs. 18.99 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The Hyundai Tucson is loaded with features like automatic headlamps with projectors, LED DRLs, fog lamps, electrically folding and adjustable ORVMs with heating function, cruise control, puddle lamps, reclining second row seat, rear wiper, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, voice recognition, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, leather upholstery, dual zone auto climate control, drive modes, hands-free boot lid operation, standard dual front airbags, side and curtain airbags on top trims, front parking sensors, hill start assist and stability control.
The 2017 Hyundai Tucson is offered with 2 engines in India – 2.0-litre petrol and 2.0-litre diesel. Both the engines are mated to either 6-speed manual or automatic gearboxes. The petrol engine produces 155 PS of power and 192 Nm of torque while the oil-burner belts out 185 PS of power and 400 Nm of torque. Hyundai is offering only 2WD mode on the Tucson as of now.
The petrol engine has an ARAI-claimed fuel efficiency of 13.03 km/l and 12.95 km/l for manual and automatic trims respectively while the claimed figures for the diesel engine are 18.42 and 16.38 km/l for manual and automatic trims respectively.
The third generation Hyundai Tucson doesn’t have any real competitor since it is slotted between the Creta and Santa Fe. However, it will give a tough time to the Mahindra XUV500, since it is priced in the whereabouts. We can expect the Tucson to sell in good numbers but buyers are likely to be confused between this and the Elantra.
Hyundai has also introduced the Hyundai Premium Assurance Program which offers 3-years/unlimited kms warranty, free maintenance for 3 years/30,000 kms, 3 years Road Side Assistance, 3 times update on Map Care and 3 customer home visits.
