The 2017 Hyundai Elantra has been spied testing in India once again. The car features lesser amount of camouflaging than its previous sightings which indicate that its launch date is approaching fast.
The 2017 Hyundai Elantra is a much anticipated car which has the eyes of potential customers and its competitors fixated on it since its official global debut. The car has been sighted multiple times on the Indian roads with full camouflage and it seems like Hyundai wants to leave no stone unturned before putting the new Elantra on sale (launch in September) in a market which forms a large chunk of its global revenues. Now the sixth generation model has been spied by us once again albeit with a bit less camouflaging and in a blue colour which is looking good in the rainy weather.
The 2017 Hyundai Elantra features extensive changes from the outgoing model and if the international spec pictures are taken into account, this D-segment sedan does look smashing. The Elantra in the spy images sports a blue shade which looks good at least on a clear rainy day and elegant looking 5-spoke alloy wheels. Details such as a shark-fin antenna, chrome lining on the window sill, projector headlamps and chrome slats on the grille indicate that the vehicle being tested here is a mid-to-top variant. This Hyundai still has a lot of testing equipment attached to it.
The all new Hyundai Elantra is expected to be offered with two engine options – the 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol version which will churn out 146 BHP, and the 1.6-litre CRDI diesel making 134 BHP of power. The car is expected to be fully loaded with features such as 8.0-inch infotainment system, re-designed centre console, navigation system, etc. Measuring 4610 mm in length, 1800 mm in width, 1450 mm in height with a wheelbase of 2700 mm, the new sedan is now 20 mm longer and 25 mm wider than the model it replaces.
In terms of styling, the 2017 Hyundai Elantra has received an extensive makeover compared to the outgoing model and it loses the fluidic looks to what Hyundai calls the Fluidic Design 2.0. The car gets wide sweptback headlamps with projector lights and a muscular front bumper that houses the boomerang shaped LED daytime running lights. The Elantra will take on the likes of the Volkswagen Jetta, Toyota Corolla and Skoda Octavia in the not so high volume D-segment.
