2017 Honda Jazz facelift revealed in Japan, India launch later this year.
Honda has officially taken the covers off the 2017 India-bound Jazz in Japan. Sold as the Honda Fit in Japan, the facelifted car will go on sale in the Civic maker’s home market from June this year. For other markets including India, the new model is expected to be launched by the second half of the year.
Since this is a facelift, Honda hasn’t brought many changes to the car on the outside. Up front it gets minor tweaks on the bumper, grille and headlamp. There’s a bigger Honda logo now. At the side, except for the new alloys and blackened out ORVMs, nothing much has changed. The rear-end looks broadly similar to the current model and only the bumper sees minor revisions. The new bumper is sleeker and gets a body coloured garnish.
The interiors of the 2017 Honda Jazz get new half-leather upholstery and a multi-angle reversing camera. Rest everything will be carried over from the current model, like the touchscreen infotainment system, touch panel for the automatic climate control, keyless entry and start and the multi-function steering wheel.
The Japan-spec Honda Jazz gets a host of driver-assisting technologies like Pedestrian Collision Mitigation Braking System, Lane Keeping Assist System, Adaptive Cruise Control and Traffic Sign Recognition and these features coming to India are quite doubtful.
Expect the Honda Jazz to carry forward the same engines as in the current model. The India-spec Jazz gets the same 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel motor with a 6-speed manual transmission and a 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol mill with a manual as well as an automatic transmission. Honda has confirmed that the 2017 Jazz is not getting the 1.0-litre turbocharged 3-cylinder petrol powerplant.
