2017 Ford EcoSport facelift test mule spotted in Coimbatore, to be launched later this year.
As the time of official launch is nearing, Ford has begun extensive testing of its upcoming 2017 EcoSport in India. The facelift is expected to be launched later this year and test mules have been spotted earlier as well. Motorbeam reader Kumaran Nadesan has spotted the facelifted EcoSport in Coimbatore.
There are major design changes on the front end. Projector headlamps are on offer as well. The side profile remains the same while the rear hatch gets minor design changes. Earlier spottings clearly show the presence of a tailgate-mounted spare in a redesigned cover. Interestingly, this partially camouflaged vehicle does without a tailgate-mounted spare. It carried a number plate housing along with a chrome strip similar to the Hyundai Creta and Maruti Vitara Brezza.
If one looks closely, increased length of the protruding rear bumper is also evident. The spotted test mule has alloy wheels of a different design from other test mules. The spied car sports rear disc brakes as well. It is also likely that the spotted car could be an export version meant for other markets.
Along with a new dashboard design, Ford will offer an 8-inch floating touch screen with SYNC3 on the higher trims. Lower variants will come with a 2-DIN audio unit with a smaller display. Instrument cluster will be backlit in blue. It is also likely that Ford will offer a lighter dual-tone colour palette for the facelift. Even though a lighter colour interior would be difficult to maintain, it will improve interior ambience by leaps and bounds.
Ford is likely to continue with the same range of engines for the 2017 EcoSport, comprising of the 1.5-litre diesel, 1.5-litre petrol and a 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine.
