The 2017 Force Gurkha range has been launched, gets mechanical changes.
Force Motors has launched the 2017 Gurkha Xplorer and Xpedition SUVs in India. This time the Gurkha range gets a C-in-C chassis with new multi-link coil spring suspension on all four wheels (a feature which no other Indian off-roader offers).
The high strength C-in-C chassis ensures better handling and ride comfort both on and off road. This frame has been welded using robotic techniques and due to the Cathodic Electro-Deposition (CED) primer coating, this frame has supreme corrosion resistance.
The company had previously updated the SUVs with BS4 engines and some changes to the exterior as well as interior. Both the Gurkha Xplorer and Xpedition are powered by a 2.6-litre turbocharged diesel engine that produces 85 HP of power and 230 Nm of torque. This oil burner comes matched to a 5-speed gearbox.
The suspension is independent struts with gas-charged shock absorbers with an anti-roll bar at the front and multi-link set-up which also gets gas-charged hydraulic shocks and an anti-roll bar at the rear. Braking is via discs at the front and drum units at the rear.
The Gurkha Xplorer is a true-blue off-roader sporting 4WD with differential locks for the front and rear axle, while both the Xplorer and Xpedition feature steel bumpers (front and rear), chrome finished air intake snorkel, black side cladding and A/T tubeless tyres.
The Force Gurkha Xplorer is available in 3-door and 5-door body styles. The 3-door variant is offered with either a hard top or a soft top, along with 4+1 to 7+1 seating configurations while the 5-door variant gets only a hard top. The Gurkha Xpedition is available only in the 5-door body style but with 6+1 or 8+1 seating configurations. Both the SUVs are available in a choice of 4 colours – Supreme White, Matte Black, Moonbeam Silver and Copper Red.
