Ducati has announced a new 937cc SuperSport, which is much more than a concept and will arrive in 2017.
The Ducati SuperSport is a completely new bike, it just carries the frame which comes from the XDiavel and Monster trellis. The SuperSport is a new street based sports bike designed completely for the road. There will be two models, the SuperSport and the SuperSport S. The main difference between the two models is that the SuperSport S comes with an upgraded front and rear suspension and quick shifter.
The bike comes with a complete new fairing, advanced dash with new functionality and Ducati multimedia system. The headlamp shape is inspired by the Panigale but now comes with added daytime running lights. The SuperSport will be available for $12,995 and S model for $14,795 in the US market. It has been designed very much for the roads and for bikers wanting street legal high performance motorcycle.
The SuperSport is powered by Ducati’s 937cc Testastretta 11° engine that produces 111 BHP at 9000 RPM and 71.3 Nm at 6500 RPM. The crankcase and cylinder heads are modified so that the Testastretta engine can be mounted to a new steel trellis frame. The liquid-cooling system and alternator cover are also modified to allow for a gear position sensor. The six-speed gearbox is paired with a wet slipper clutch.
The new SuperSport goes much further with its rider aids. The two models will benefit from three modes – Sports, Touring and Urban, each linked to the 8-level traction control system. It comes with Diablo Rosso II tyres and a single-sided swingarm. Both models are said to have fully adjustable suspension. The SuperSport will be showcased at the EICMA Milan show in November 2016.
