The Maruti Baleno BoosterJet has been spied while on test near the Vashi toll plaza on the Sion Panvel highway. While the visual changes are not too aggressive, the car gets new blacked out alloys to separate it from the flock.
Winter is coming, and with it will come the BoosterJet. The much awaited Maruti Baleno BoosterJet has just been spied on the Sion Panvel highway stuck in traffic near the Vashi toll plaza. The car, which was showcased at this year’s Auto Expo will be Maruti’s answer to the Volkswagen Polo GT and Fiat Punto Abarth.
The spy pics show that the aggressive body kit has been dropped, for a more sleeper like appearance. The only noticeable visual changes are the black alloys, that now have a new design. The rims give the car a sporty appearance, which would be amplified if paired with one of the lighter shades on offer. The biggest change however comes under the hood of the car. The Baleno, with its light weight chassis is already plenty quick on its feet with the Swift derived engine. So you can imagine the excitement when a car like this gets an additional serving of BHP.
The BoosterJet engine is a 1.0-litre directly injected petrol unit, which is turbocharged to produce 112 HP of power and 175 Nm of torque. The engine is expected to be mated with a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT auto box. We would however, like to see a 6th cog added, for effortless highway cruising. The Baleno already has a very able chassis. This, coupled with the new engine is sure to give the give the competition cold feet.
While the exteriors remain more or less similar, we hope Maruti has given sporty touches to the interior, like steel finished pedals, racing seats and some different interior colour options. The launch of the car seems to be just around the corner now.
