Toyota is all set to blaze the guns with its new MPV, the Innova Crysta that will make its Indian debut at the 2016 Auto Expo next month.
There is a lot of buzz floating around the 2016 Toyota Innova and all of us are waiting with bated breath for more and more details to come out officially. In a new development, it has been learnt that the actual name of the MPV is going to be Innova Crysta. Since Toyota will be selling certain variants of the current Innova for the next few years to the commercial market, the automaker must have come up with the new name to differentiate the new model from the old model.
The 2016 Toyota Innova Crysta gets a whole lot of changes to the exteriors as well as the interiors. The vehicle measures 4735 mm, 1830 mm and 1795 mm in length, width and height respectively. However, the automaker hasn’t changed the wheelbase and it continues to stay put at 2750 mm. The outsides of the Innova Crysta look very snazzy now with all the cosmetic enhancements and add-ons like LED lights, DRLs, additional chrome garnishes and the prominent hexagonal grille.
The interiors have also been revamped entirely and the MPV gets an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, multi-function steering wheel, keyless entry, dual-zone climate control, etc. Toyota will be offering 6-seater and 7-seater versions of the Innova Crysta where the 6-seater model will get captain seats in the second row. In terms of mechanicals, the MPV gets an all-new 2.4-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine with a power output pegged at 147 HP while peak torque is 360 Nm.
The Innova has been the most successful product from Toyota’s line-up in India. The MPV has a lot of loyalty and even though its prices have been increasing steadily, it continues to sell in good numbers thanks to the fact that it boasts of good resale value and excellent reliability. The 2016 Toyota Innova Crysta will be pricier than the current Innova and the new model will cost around Rs. 24 lakhs (on-road) for the top variant.
