The 2016 Toyota Innova is expected to be equipment rich and could borrow certain features from the new Corolla sedan.

The 2016 Innova has grown longer, but has similar height and width

The next generation Toyota Innova is certainly growing on to become one of the frequently spotted test vehicles and could soon beat the Mahindra Scorpio to the title. This time round, the 2016 Innova was spotted testing at the Mysore Ring Road, Karnataka with heavy camouflage. With the Indian launch scheduled in 2016, the new version will be a vast improvement over the outgoing model with major updates to the interiors as well as redesigned exteriors. The overall body however continues to be similar as the current version.

On the outside, the 2016 Toyota Innova will get a comprehensively updated front and rear fascia with a restyled grille, headlights and tail lights. The MPV has also grown in terms of length, while the overall height and width continue to be the same. On the inside, the new Innova will see a completely new layout featuring more premium materials, piano black finish as well as a new multi-function steering wheel. Earlier spy shots also showcased a touchscreen infotainment unit added to the MPV that could be limited to the top-end variants.

Recent reports also suggest that Toyota will be borrowing certain features from the new generation Corolla Altis on the 2016 Innova. Complimenting the new interiors will be the spacious cabin on the MPV along with added comfort for third row seats. In terms of mechanicals, the new generation model will feature a newly developed diesel engine under the hood that will replace the existing 2.5-litre D4-D unit, while an automatic transmission is also on the cards. The 2016 Innova could be unveiled at the end of 2015 in certain Asian markets, while an Auto Expo unveil can be expected for India.
