A teaser picture of the next generation 2016 Toyota Fortuner has been revealed (not officially by Toyota). The picture is most likely from a product presentation of the new Fortuner.
The current generation Toyota Fortuner is available on sale since almost a decade but it hit the Indian market only in 2009. The big SUV turned out to be a buyers’ favorite as soon as it was launched and it left its rivals biting the dust. The Fortuner continued its winning streak across the years and all the minor updates that Toyota kept giving the vehicle only helped increase the sales of the SUV. It is high time that the Fortuner now gets a heavily updated new generation and a fresh outline rendering of the SUV has made it to the web.
This picture of the next generation Toyota Fortuner shows that the SUV will be getting a lot of styling changes and many new design elements will be incorporated in the vehicle to give it a new and fresh look. The exteriors will still look robust and imposing but now in a more modern way. The interiors of the SUV will also be heavily tweaked with a new dashboard, centre console and a lot of added features. Space will obviously be good and hopefully Toyota will now correct the poor ride quality of the current Fortuner. The new Fortuner will be based on the company’s new global ladder-on-frame chassis that will also be shared with the new Hilux and Innova.
The current generation Fortuner in India gets 2.5-litre and 3.0-litre diesel engines offered with 5-speed manual and 5-speed automatic transmissions and 2WD and 4WD trims. The new Fortuner is likely to get an updated engine portfolio and the global variants will also see petrol engines powering the SUV. In India we can expect Toyota to offer only diesel engines on the vehicle but it will come with the option of 2WD and 4WD. The new Toyota Fortuner will be priced above Rs. 30 lakhs when launched and it will be competing with the next generation Ford Endeavour which will be launched by then.
