Toyota has launched an updated version of the Etios in Brazil and it comes with a new dashboard and slightly tweaked mechanicals.
The Toyota Etios is a popular sedan in India and the Japanese automaker has now launched an updated version of the car in Brazil. Just like India, Toyota has launched both the hatchback as well as the sedan versions of the Etios in the country. The Toyota Etios is priced from BRL 43,990 to BRL 60,295 in Brazil which translates to Rs. 8.26 – 11.32 lakhs.
The Brazilian Toyota Etios continues to come with the same exterior that is seen on the Indian version. There are no visible changes to the cosmetics apart from redesigned alloy wheels. However, the interiors of the Etios now come with a new dashboard design. The leather-wrapped steering wheel is all-new and comes with audio and phone controls.
The centre console gets a touchscreen infotainment system while the instrument cluster that is located at the top of the dashboard now features a much better and modern screen which takes some inspiration from the new Prius. The screen displays a whole lot of information and is leagues ahead of the instrument panel that used to come in the older Etios. The Etios also comes with cruise control now.
In terms of mechanicals, there are hardly any changes and the Toyota Etios continues to be powered by the same 1.3-litre Dual VVT-i and 1.5-litre Dual VVT-i flex-fuel engines. Toyota has tuned both the engines to generate 9% more fuel efficiency. The engines are now mated to a 6-speed manual transmission while a 4-speed automatic gearbox is also offered.
