2016 Tata Kite Interiors Spotted Undisguised, New Spy Shots Inside

The Tata Kite is likely to go on sale by the end of this year and will get an infotainment system similar to the Zest with Bluetooth, USB and AUX connectivity.

The Tata Kite hatchback is likely to be called Glade and looks very good

Tata Motors is extensively testing the Kite (codename) hatchback all across the country for months now, ahead of the official launch scheduled in the later part of 2015. Touted as the replacement to the ageing Indica , the small car could likely be christened as the ‘Glade’ upon launch and was recently spotted testing by our readers Nanda Kumar, Adil Mehtab and Vineet Singh showcasing several new elements on the exteriors. The new spy shots emerged online further reveal a great deal about the features on the hatchback.

Most noticeable on the 2016 Tata Kite are the all-black interiors and infotainment system similar to the Zest compact sedan. The large screen on the centre console suggests that Tata could introduce the Harman touchscreen system on the Kite as well, but could be limited to the top-end XT trim. The unit comes with Bluetooth, SD card, USB and AUX connectivity options while the MapMyIndia navigation system could also be on offer. Furthermore, the three-spoke steering wheel is similar to the Zest and also gets mounted controls; whereas the air-con vents seem similar to the ones on the current Indica. Electrically adjustable ORVMs are also likely to feature on the hatchback.

In terms of power, the 2016 Tata Kite will be using a 1.2-litre petrol motor under the hood along with a new 1.05-litre three-cylinder diesel engine currently under development. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and possibly the AMT unit as well in order to rival the Celerio. Unlike the Bolt though, the Kite is shorter in height and will get much better proportions while the overall design language seems pleasing with the large grille upfront, swept back headlights, coupe-like roofline and clear lens tail lamps.
