The Tata Hexa crossover was spotted again, testing around Pune. Tata Motors will put this SUV on sale in 2016 and it is the company’s next launch.
Tata Motors had launched the Aria back in 2010 and now they plan on replacing it with its successor, the Hexa crossover. The vehicle is undergoing the final stages of testing Recently the SUV was spotted testing around Pune by our reader Rishikesh Kulkarni. After the not so successful Aria, Tata is focusing entirely on the Hexa to make it the next big product. The Hexa was first showcased in India at the 2016 Auto Expo.
The new SUV looks muscular thanks to the wide front grille, sweptback headlamps, bigger hood and a large bumper. The rear features a premium look with the LED tail lamps. The cabin also sports luxury and class featuring a touch-screen infotainment system, auto climate control, projector headlights and a host of other equipment like a Terrain Management System as seen on Land Rover SUVs.
The engine is a 2.2-litre four-cylinder VARICOR diesel motor derived from the Safari Storme VARICOR 400 which will churn out upward of 154.2 HP of power at 4000 RPM and 400 Nm of torque between 1700-2700 RPM. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox while AWD will be offered with the Terrain Response feature.
The Tata Hexa will have the Mahindra XUV500 as its competitor. For safety, Tata Motors will offer 6 airbags, ABS, EBD, ESP, brake assist and traction control on the SUV. The Hexa measures 4764 mm in length, 1895 mm in width and 1780 mm in height. It also has a wheelbase of 2850 mm.
