Suzuki has introduced the 2016 Hayabusa with three new colours. However, the bike does not get any cosmetic or mechanical tweaks.
The Suzuki Hayabusa might have got very outdated now but the superbike still remains an enthusiasts’ favourite. The Japanese manufacturer has now added three new colours to the bike’s palette – Candy Daring Red & Metallic Mystic Silver, Metallic Thunder Gray & Glass Sparkle Black and Pearl Bracing White & Metallic Mystic Silver. Apart from these colour changes, the 2016 Suzuki Hayabusa remains completely the same as the previous model and there are no changes to the body panels or mechanicals or anything else. The new colours bring some freshness to the otherwise old product.
The Suzuki Hayabusa is powered by a 1340cc, 4-cylinder, liquid-cooled petrol motor that belts out 197 PS of power and 155 Nm of twist. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The superbike takes just 3 seconds to accelerate from 0-100 km/hr. Suzuki had also introduced a limited edition Hayabusa Z but that model is not available in India any more. The Hayabusa has remained a cult bike for a very long time but it gained a lot of popularity in India only after the movie Dhoom was released in 2004.
The 2016 Suzuki Hayabusa is available in India for a price of Rs. 15.95 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) and considering its age, the price is quite high. The market now offers a lot of performance bikes in this segment and most of them come with newer technology and better features at a lower price. The Hayabusa competes with bikes like the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R, Ducati 1299 Panigale, Ducati Diavel, Ducati Monster 1200 and Benelli TNT 1130 among others.
