The third generation MINI Cooper S Convertible has been launched in India, it is priced at Rs. 34.9 lakhs and comes via the CBU route.
Exactly a year ago, the third generation MINI Cooper S was launched in India and now the BMW owned brand has launched the Cooper S Convertible in India. While globally the Cooper Convertible comes with a wide option of engines including 1.5-litre petrol and diesel units, the British brand is only offering open-top motoring in S trim in India.
The MINI Cooper S Convertible is powered by a 2.0-litre petrol mill that belts out 192 PS of power and 280 Nm of torque at just 1250 RPM, matched to a 6-speed automatic gearbox. 0-100 km/hr comes up in just 7.1 seconds while top speed is 233 km/hr. The claimed fuel economy is 14.59 km/l. The ex-showroom price of the MINI Cooper Convertible is Rs. 34.9 lakhs, making it the cheapest top-less car in the country.
The MINI Cooper S Convertible is available in 13 colours (11 are optional colours). It comes with a 215-litres boot which is 25% more than the second gen model. Loaded with quite a lot of equipment, including Driving Modes and Excitement Pack, the MINI Cooper Convertible is packed with safety tech like cornering brake control, dynamic stability control, ABS, DTC, ELDC, brake assist and dual front airbags. There are a ton of optional accessories on offer including the choice of wheels, upholstery and exterior/interior equipment.
MINI is offering optional 17-inch wheels on the Cooper S Convertible which depending on the design will set you back by Rs. 1.25 – 1.75 lakhs. The standard wheels are 16-inchers. The roof can be dropped down or put back up in 18 seconds and the vehicle runs on Runflat tyres.
