The Mahindra Bolero is on sale since ages now. Mahindra kept on launching updated and revised versions of the utility vehicle, however the overall vehicle has always remained the same. The Bolero is also sold in other body styles such as Maxi-Truck, pick-up, etc. The company also offered completely customised Boleros to customers with the nameplate Bolero Stinger. While the regular Bolero carries a spartan image, the Stinger came with sportiness to make the UV more appealing to the youth.
Now, Mahindra is finally set to replace the ageing UV with a completely new model. The new Bolero is codenamed U301 and is currently undergoing rigorous testing by company officials. It was spotted on the Chennai-Trichy highway by our reader Reguvaran Reddy. The new Bolero will be as rugged as the outgoing version but it will come with better styling and comfort along with the addition of some features that are necessary in all vehicles these days. We can expect some styling elements to be inspired from the elder XUV500 such as grille and bumper designs. Mahindra designers have made the front bumper wide so that the UV looks bigger than what it actually is.
The headlights seem to be smoked which shows that Mahindra is trying to get rid of the slightly boring image that the Bolero currently carries. While the test mule has tail lights from the older Scorpio, the production version will come with new lights. It is speculated that the 2016 Mahindra Bolero will come with two different body lengths – a sub 4-metre version will be available that will cater to those on a strict budget along with another regular sized version. The sub 4-metre Bolero will be powered by the same 1.5-litre engine that does duty on the Quanto.
