The upcoming new Honda CB150R street-fighter will be using the same 150cc motor as the CBR150R and will get a more aggressively styled design and a reworked digital instrument console.
Ahead of the Indonesian premiere expected in the following weeks, images of the 2016 Honda CB150R have been leaked online revealing major upgrades on the CBR150R’s street-fighter derivative. Not to be sold in India, the 2016 CB150R will get a host of upgrades including a revised fuel tank design, aggressive headlight unit and a sharply styled tail light cluster. You can also see the slender LED turn indicators and a new LCD instrument console that looks very premium and is similar to the one found on the CB Unicorn 160.
In terms of power, the Honda CB150R will likely get a new 149.16cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine adapted from the 149.4cc motor found on the CBR150R. The latter currently produces 18.28 BHP and 12.66 Nm of torque and we can expect the new unit to churn out slightly lesser power on the 2016 CB150R. In terms of mechanicals, the bike will continue to get telescopic front forks and a monoshock rear suspension, while braking performance comes from discs at the front and rear. Expect the 2016 CB150R to be priced around 18.7 million Indonesian Rupiah (approx. Rs. 89,000/-)
While Honda India has no plans to bring the CB150R to the country anytime soon, the model if launched would be positioned above the CB Unicorn 160 in the premium 150cc segment and will be priced just under the Rs. 1 lakh mark. The bike will rival the Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS in the same range. However, Honda’s next set of launches in the country include the highly awaited CBR650F, the updated CBR250R and CBR150R. The Japanese auto giant had promised 15 new launches this year, out of which 9 have been introduced in the market while 6 are yet to arrive.
