The 2016 Hero Hunk has been caught testing with a lot of camouflage and it is expected to carry the CBZ Xtreme Sports’ more powerful engine when launched around this year’s festive season.
Hero is trying hard to keep its number one spot in the Indian market intact. Its biggest rival, Honda on the other hand is heavily investing in the scooter segment to dethrone Hero. Anyhow, Hero does not seem too keen to concentrate only in the scooter segment and is trying to upgrade its range of motorcycles, instead of just rolling out bikes with new paint schemes and stickers in the name of a facelift (like Honda). The 160cc segment is doing Honda a lot of good in terms of sales and Hero is looking to capitalise on the same aspect.
The 2016 Hero Hunk has just been spied testing with a lot of camouflage, indicating that the Indian two-wheeler giant is spicing up the product to make it more premium. The upcoming Hunk will feature the Xtreme Sports’ 149.2cc, air-cooled, 4-stroke single-cylinder OHC engine that outputs 14.4 PS of power at 8500 RPM and 12.8 Nm of torque at 6500 RPM. The more powerful engine will definitely make the bike compete with similarly powered products from other manufacturers. The other changes include the addition of black coloured upside down gas charged shocks, a new front mudguard design, a rear disc brake and gold graphics.
Since the 2016 Hero Hunk will be similar to the Xtreme Sports in the mechanical domain, the first motorcycle is expected to be priced near around the latter one, if not the same. The Hunk was a good product when introduced in the market, but its popularity died down soon after following the launch of more capable products from other two-wheeler manufacturers. The updated Hunk which is known for its muscular yet practical features is expected to be launched in the country by the festive season.
