The new generation Ford Endeavour comes back with the brutish appeal in an urban design language and a plethora of new features loaded up to the brink.
Design – Based on the new generation Ranger pick-up, the 2016 Ford Endeavour looks urban now with the new design language sporting the hexagonal grille up front with an abundance of chrome while the faux skid plates add a brawny appeal. The SUV retains its large proportions with a massive hood adding a masculine touch while the boxy dimensions are neatly integrated helping reduce visual bulk. At the rear, the SUV comes with wraparound LED tail lamps and a large chrome bar running across the tailgate. The Endeavour rides on 265/60/R18 tyres.
Interiors – Taking a massive leap from the outgoing model, the 2016 Ford Endeavour gets a highly appointed interior finished in beige and gloss black while the panoramic sunroof adds a roomier feel. The 7-seater gets leather upholstered seats while the audio system comes with active noise cancellation. The Endeavour now comes with the new Terrain Management System that includes sand, snow/mud and rock mode. You also get Hill Launch Assist and Descent Control systems optimising off-roading abilities. The SUV comes with a ground clearance of 225 mm while the water wading depth stands at 800 mm.
Talking about features, the Ford Endeavour gets 8-way power adjustable driver’s seat, leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel, dual-zone auto climate control, rain sensing wipers, rear parking sensors, cruise control, touchscreen infotainment screen with SYNC and voice control; 10 speakers, Bluetooth, USB and AUX connectivity. Other features include headlamps with HID, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), heated side mirror, panoramic sunroof, power folding third-row seat, semi-auto parallel park assist; front parking sensors and Volumetric Burglar Alarm. You also get a power tailgate that opens and closes at the touch of a button.
Engines – Talking about power, the new Endeavour is available with two powertrain options including a –
* 2.2-litre 4-cylinder TDCi engine produces 160 PS at 3200 RPM and 385 Nm of torque between 1600-2500 RPM, paired to a 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions.
* 3.2-litre 5-cylinder TDCi engine produces 200 PS at 3000 RPM and 470 Nm of torque between 1750-2500 RPM, paired to only a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Both engines are available with 4×4 and 4×2 variants spread across different transmission options.
Safety – Ford has made quite the departure on the new generation Endeavour compared to its predecessor with the model getting a host of safety tech and electronic aids on board including six airbags (front, side and curtain) on the Titanium trim with a driver side knee airbag only available on the range-topping 3.2 AT 4×4 Titanium trim. Other safety aids include ABS with EBD, ESP, Traction Control, Emergency Assistance, seatbelt pre-tensioner, Ford MyKey and much more.
Fuel Efficiency – The 2016 Ford Endeavour returns an ARAI certified fuel efficiency figures of –

* 3.2 4×4 AT – 10.91 km/l
The Ford Endeavour is available in six colour options – Sunset red, Golden bronze, Moondust Silver, Panther black, Diamond white and Smoke grey. The SUV is also available with a host of accessories inclusive of ambient lighting, exterior body graphics, LED scuff plates among others. The premium SUV is coming to the country via the CKD route and will be locking horns with the Toyota Fortuner, Chevrolet TrailBlazer, Hyundai Santa Fe, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport among others.
