The 2016 XDiavel draws power from a new 1262cc engine that is now equipped with variable valve timing and also gets a belt drive for easier maintenance.
Ducati has managed to grab the right kind of attention at the special night before the 2015 EICMA Motorcycle Show in Milan showcasing nine new models part of the 2016 lineup. Apart from the new entry-level Scrambler Sixty2, the automaker has unveiled the 2016 XDiavel and XDiavel S cruisers that have been developed from the ground up and feature a host of upgrades including the uprated DVT equipped engine.
The most important and significant change on the 2016 Ducati XDiavel is the new 1262cc Testastretta, liquid-cooled, L-Twin engine that comes equipped with Desmodromic Variable Timing (DVT) system, which first made its debut on the 2015 Multistrada. The said unit is tuned to belt out 156 BHP of power and 128 Nm of torque that is available at a low 5000 RPM (by Ducati standards). Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed gearbox. Furthermore, the engine gets some mechanical changes including relocated coolant pipes that are no longer visible on the outside of the engine.
Retaining the same underpinnings, the 2016 Ducati XDiavel uses 50 mm USD front forks while the XDiavel S differentiates itself with DLC coating. The rear gets a monoshock setup with adjustable preload and rebound. Another major change on the new XDiavel is the fitment of belt drive which makes the power cruiser easier to live with and offers better power transmission as well as quieter running. There are also a tonne of new technologies available including multiple riding modes, Ducati Safety Pack (ABS + DTC), Ride by Wire, Cruise Control, Hands-Free, LED DRL, backlit switchgear among other tech.
The 2016 Ducati XDiavel S gets Bluetooth module, infotainment system, machined aluminium mirrors and a gloss black finished engine with machined belt covers. A major addition on the new XDiavel are over 60 ergonomic options with the adjustable seat height, foot pegs, handlebar and a whole lot more. There is also the very cool Ducati Power Launch or launch control added to the package for that perfect take off. The new XDiavel will be heading to India as a CBU but only next year.
