The 2016 Ducati 959 Panigale has arrived at showrooms for display. The motorcycle was launched at the 2016 India Bike Week and replaces the 899 Panigale in Ducati’s line up. It is priced at Rs. 14,37,450/-.
The successor to Ducati’s 899 Panigale has arrived in showrooms and is on display at dealerships in Mumbai and Delhi. The 959 Panigale was launched at the 2016 India Bike Week in February. With its typical Italian flare and breath-taking styling, the bike could very well be sold just as a piece of art. Just like the 899, the 959 draws its design features from its elder sibling, the 1299 Panigale.
The 959 Panigale is powered by Ducati’s world famous Superquadro engine. The L-Twin motor makes 157 HP of power at 10,500 RPM and 107.4 Nm of torque at 9000 RPM. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed transmission with a DQS electronic quick shifter. The 959 gets a hydraulically actuated multi-plate wet clutch with slipper functionality to aid down-shifts in corners. It also gets a full ride-by-wire throttle system with different power and 3 riding modes (Race, Sport and Wet) to tailor the bike as per the user’s requirements.
The chassis is a monocoque construction which gives it that unique look. The chassis, due to its aluminium construction is also extremely light-weight which helps bring down the centre of gravity and aids mass centralisation. The chassis also houses the redesigned lateral air-intakes. The Ducati 959 Panigale also gets dual-channel Bosch 9MP ABS system as standard, which comes with 3 settings to adapt to riding conditions.
Following commencement of sales, Ducati has been seeing an overwhelming response from motorcyclists around the country. The 959 Panigale is currently available in the traditional Ducati red with black wheels for Rs. 14,37,450/- (ex-showroom, Mumbai). Ducati currently has dealers in Delhi, Bengaluru, Gurgaon, Mumbai and Pune and plans to further expand its network by opening two more outlets before the end of the year.
