Sketches of the upcoming Datsun Redi-GO have been revealed ahead of the hatchback’s official debut in India. The Redi-GO will compete in the popular entry-level hatchback segment.
Nissan will be lifting the veils off the much-awaited 2016 Datsun Redi-GO on 14th April but the automaker has already revealed a couple of sketches of the vehicle. The Redi-GO is based on the same CMF-A platform that also underpins the Renault Kwid but the car looks completely different. Going by the sketches, the Datsun Redi-GO looks very appealing and has a tall stance. It misses out on the SUV-ish design of the Kwid but what it gets is a very youthful face.
The styling of the Redi-GO is very smooth-flowing and it looks much better than the bread and butter models that are available on sale in the entry-level hatchback market. Thanks to the vertical stance of the car, you can be sure that it’ll come with oodles of headroom for all passengers. The rear of the Redi-GO also looks very stylish and attractive.
The Kwid comes with a pretty good equipment list but the Redi-GO is expected to come with lesser features. It will come with only the basic and necessary equipment and will be lesser loaded than the Renault. Powering the Redi-GO will be the same 800cc petrol engine that is offered with the Kwid. At a later stage, Nissan will introduce a 1.0-litre engine and an AMT gearbox too.
The Datsun Redi-GO will be positioned in the highly competitive entry-level hatchback segment where the Maruti Alto is the segment leader while the Kwid is also doing very good for itself. Pricing is going to be a very significant factor for the vehicle’s success and we expect it to be priced from Rs. 2.6 lakhs (ex-showroom).
