The Volkswagen Vento facelift has been spied and it features first in segment, LED tail lights and gets the same alloy wheels as the Polo facelift.
Battle in the C-segment has never been more intense and the sedans offered by German manufacturers are having to go through quite a rough period, thanks to the manufacturers from Japan and Korea. Honda City, the leader of the pack is enjoying most of the sales in the segment followed by the Maruti Ciaz and Hyundai Verna. The Volkswagen Vento and Skoda Rapid have kind of lost out to its rivals as they have become quite old and need to start afresh. Remaining rivals in the segment need not be mentioned as they have somewhat disappeared from the new car market. The Vento is due for a facelift this year and a lot is expected from the vehicle for the sheer quality, safety and premiumness that it offers.
Recently, the Vento facelift was caught spotted while testing and reveals quite a bit of the changes that it will have over the current model. The car has a Polo badge at the rear, as the Vento manufactured at Volkswagen’s Chakan plant is exported to many countries like South Africa and sold as the Polo sedan there. The car caught testing featured new LED tail lights, which if does make it to the production model, will be a segment first. The facelift looks very similar to the current Vento from all angles and gets a two-slat chrome grille at the front as also seen in the current model. The rear bumper also features slight changes towards the bottom end but does not help in improving the current aesthetics. It also features new alloy wheels which seem to be carried over from the Polo facelift altogether.
The Vento is currently sold with a 1.6-litre petrol engine, 1.5-litre diesel engine and 1.2-litre TSI engine (its a gem), the latter two being sold with a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The diesel also gets the option of a 5-speed manual transmission and the petrol TSI is the most expensive variant of the Vento. The same engines are likely to be carried over to the facelift as well as all the engines have been well received by the general public while also providing fun to the occasional enthusiasts. The Vento facelift will be launched around the festive period this year.
