Volkswagen is planning to launch the Jetta facelift in India next month. The updated model will come with mild exterior tweaks and improved interiors for the 2015 model year.
Volkswagen India currently has only three cars in its portfolio including Polo, Vento and Jetta. In the recent past, the German automaker discontinued the optimistically priced Volkswagen Touareg and Passat due to poor sales. The only premium offering is the Volkswagen Jetta currently, which got its mid-cycle facelift in 2013 in India. Surprisingly, Volkswagen is planning to launch another update of the Jetta that was launched globally last year.
The 2015 Volkswagen Jetta facelift is all set to launch next month in India with mild updates to remain competitive in the game of D-segment sedans. The premium sedan will get mild changes to the exterior including revised bumpers with bigger airdams, restyled LED DRLs on the headlights and new tail lights to give the rear an Audi-esque design. We spotted the facelift on test last month and the changes outside are quite minimal.
The new Jetta will get some significant changes on the inside such as a new flat-bottom steering wheel (also seen on the Polo, and Vento facelift), touch screen infotainment system, new dashboard materials, revised instrument cluster, etc. The engine options will remain unchanged featuring 1.4-litre TSI turbo petrol and 2.0-litre TDI diesel engines, which are also shared with its cousin, the Skoda Octavia. The Jetta currently comes with a starting price of Rs. 13.21 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) and the pricing is likely to remain more or less the same.
