The Volkswagen Fox Pepper concept is based on the regular Fox hatchback and gets a new 1.6-litre flex fuel engine producing 120 HP of power, while the exterior upgrades give a sporty look to the hatchback.
Ahead of its official debut at the upcoming Sao Paulo Auto Show set to commence by the end of this month, Volkswagen has revealed the Fox Pepper Concept in images and gives the regular Fox hatchback an interesting sporty look coupled with an all-new engine under the hood. A popular car in Brazil for Volkswagen, the Fox Pepper concept has been described as sporty and youthful by the company and is done up in ‘red tornado’ paint shade along with new bumper and exterior black cladding.
In addition, the Volkswagen Fox Pepper Concept gets a new honeycomb mesh grille, new 15-inch diamond cut alloy wheels and a contrast gloss black finished roof and ORVMs that adds to the fiesty appeal of the hatchback. At the rear, the Fox Pepper gets a dual exhaust system and diffuser finished in gloss black. While the interior images have not been released, Volkswagen did state that the sporty elements on the Fox Pepper extend to the cabin as well with two-tone leather seats, red air-vents and Fox Pepper badging. The dashboard also features a new 5.5-inch infotainment system with GPS navigation.
In terms of powertrain, the Volkswagen Fox Pepper Concept gets a new 1.6-litre flex fuel engine that produces 120 HP of power on ethanol, paired to a 6-speed manual transmission. O-100 km/hr comes in just 9.8 seconds, while the top speed is restricted to 189 km/hr. The Fox Pepper also comes loaded with safety tech including airbags and ABS, ESC, Traction Control and ASR as well as electronic differential lock. An interesting take on the hatch, Volkswagen could possibly put it into production based on customer feedback and demand in the Brazilian market. In the Indian context, the Fox was ruled out as the company would not be able to price the hatch competitively.
