The 2015 Suzuki V-Strom 650XT gets upgraded styling on the lines of the bigger V-Strom, while the powertrain remains the same tried and tested 645cc V-Twin engine.
A lot is happening in Germany currently with the 2014 Intermot Motorcycle Show underway. With almost all major two-wheeler manufacturers making their presence felt, a host of cult machines have been unveiled with upgrades to the design, powertrain and performance. After showcasing a plethora of models earlier in the day, Suzuki has now unveiled the 2015 V-Strom 650XT Adventure bike that has been updated with new styling cues inspired from the bigger 1000cc V-Strom, while the engine remains the same tried and tested 645cc 4-stroke, liquid-cooled, DOHC V-Twin engine.
Visually, the 2015 Suzuki V-Strom 650XT ABS is very similar to the bigger V-Strom, but gets the 1988 DR-Z inspired beak at the front that was ridden by former motocross world champion Gaston Rahier at the Paris-Dakar Rally. The company states that the new distinctive beak cowl design had a major impact on motorcycle design. The 2015 model also gets new wire-spoked wheels that offer better durability and can withstand shocks better on unpaved roads, they are available in the same sizes as the current model, namely 19-inch up front and 17-inches at the rear, wrapped in tubeless tyres.
Suzuki is also offering the 2015 V-Strom 650XT ABS with optional accessories including a skid plate, crash bars, aluminum top and side cases and LED fog lights. Expected to be priced aggressively, the Adventure bike will be locking horns with the Triumph Tiger 800XC as well as the BMW F800 GS in the segment and will be available in four colour options including grey, white, blue and red. The company might bring this model to India but not in the near future as Suzuki India will continue to focus on the mass market segment.
