The 2015 SsangYong Tivoli is the manufacturer’s most affordable offering and will go on sale in South Korea in January next year. It will be launched in India in the near future.
Making the most out of the season of joy, SUV maker SsangYong has officially unveiled its first compact SUV the ‘Tivoli’ in images revealing the exterior and interior completely. Previewed in the form of XIV Air and XIV Adventure concepts at the Paris Motor Show in October, the Tivoli started life as the X100 Concept and will be the most affordable SsangYong on offer positioned below the Korando C, once it goes on sale in its home market of South Korea as well as the UK next month. Other markets will get the compact SUV by mid-2015.
Compared to the sketches showcased in November, the SsangYong Tivoli’s design gets no changes as such and continues with a sharp language. Measuring under 4-metres in length, the major design elements are sporty, while the front is dominated by headlights that get integrated LED DRLs and the bumper looks chiseled with black under body cladding. On the inside, the dashboard gets a dual-tone finish and comes with a tech loaded centre console and the very sporty flat-bottom steering wheel. The Tivoli also boasts of several easy in-car IT device connectivity options inside the cabin.
SsangYong has confirmed earlier that the Tivoli will be powered by 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engine (Euro 6 compliant) options and will be competing against a host of competition including the Ford EcoSport, Honda HR-V, Renault Captur, Nissan Juke among other options. While the model would be a perfect fit for the compact SUV loving Indian market, a launch during the next year is unlikely. Instead, India will get three compact SUVs from parent company Mahindra’s stable. Specifics on the Tivoli will be revealed as we get closer to launch.
