The Maruti Swift facelift will come with subtle upgrades including LED DRLs, parking sensors, chrome door handles as standard with no changes under the hood.
Maruti Suzuki has commenced production of the 2015 Swift facelift in full swing that will be launched in the coming weeks. The updated Swift will get a host of new features, while the design and mechanicals remain untouched. Starting with the exterior changes, the updated Swift facelift gets new L-shaped LED DRLs (for the mid-level V and top-end Z trims) with mild tweaks to the front bumper. The Z trim also gets new 11-spoke alloy wheels and reverse parking sensors along with chrome plated door handles and push button start with keyless entry.
In addition, Maruti will offer ABS, chrome plated door handles and keyless entry on the new mid-level VDi (O) trim. The Swift facelift also gets electrically foldable ORVMs and auto-up feature for the driver side power window as standard. The infotainment system is also expected to be upgraded with Bluetooth connectivity that is missing on the outgoing version. Under the hood though, the Swift facelift sports no changes and continues to draw power from the tried and tested 1.2-litre K-Series petrol motor as well as the 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine, paired to a 5-speed manual transmission.
Always a brisk seller, the updates to the Swift come three years after the outgoing model was launched. While Maruti has had to put little effort into selling this hatchback, the facelifted version is expected to generate sales further with all the extra goodies on offer and will help compete against rivals Volkswagen Polo, Hyundai i20 and the likes in the segment. The updates will also be introduced on the DZire at a later stage with additional changes. Expect to see a marginal upward price revision on the Swift facelift.
